Meet Urva

Enter the world of Urva Patel, a modest painter who discovered her love for art over ten years ago. Starting as a simple hobby, painting became Urva's passion, guiding her on a journey of self-discovery through the world of creativity.

Ten years ago, Urva picked up a paintbrush for the first time, eager to explore the wonders of artistic expression. With curiosity and determination, she immersed herself in the art world, keen to learn and grow with each brushstroke.

Urva's early interest in painting animals with watercolours led her to join the Association of Animal Artists, where she found a supportive community that nurtured her talent. Urva also took up the role of committee member within the group, eager to contribute to its success.

Driven by a desire to broaden her horizons, Urva ventured into abstract painting with acrylics, and later explored the intricate art of portraiture using oils and coloured pencils. Each new technique was a humbling experience, teaching Urva the value of patience and perseverance in her artistic journey.

In 2023, Urva returned to her roots in animal painting, showcasing her work at exhibitions with the Association of Animal Artists and The Wildlife Art Society International. It was a rewarding experience to share her art with others, and Urva felt grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow artists.

Joining the Walsall Society of Artists was another significant milestone for Urva, allowing her to exhibit her paintings at prestigious venues and connect with fellow artists.

In 2024, Urva initiated the Turner Study Series, a project where she is sharing her passion for the master's artistry with fellow enthusiasts, enriching the artistic community with her insights and discoveries. Additionally, she took the the role of Media Secretary for the Walsall Society of Artists, a responsibility she approached with humility and dedication. She saw it as an opportunity to give back to the artistic community that had welcomed her with open arms.

Artist Statement

In my current body of work, I am wholly immersed in the enchanting world of contemporary landscapes, predominantly using watercolours as my medium of choice. Inspired by the timeless mastery of J.M.W. Turner, my paintings strive to encapsulate the poetic essence of nature's beauty and the profound emotions it evokes.

Through each brushstroke, I endeavour to create landscapes that transcend the boundaries of reality, inviting viewers on an evocative journey into the heart of these mesmerizing scenes. My art is not limited to mere representations; instead, it embodies a fusion of imagination and emotion, akin to crafting verses on a canvas.

With a delicate yet powerful touch, I infuse my paintings with ethereal hues and intricate textures, conveying the delicate interplay between light and shadow. Nature comes alive in my artwork, and through it, I explore the eternal connection between humanity and the natural world.

This exploration of contemporary landscapes allows me to delve deeper into the intricacies of my artistic expression, constantly evolving and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. As I immerse myself in the process, each artwork becomes a unique tale, whispered through the gentle strokes of my brush.

In this current phase of my artistic journey, I find myself passionately dedicated to capturing the profound beauty and emotion within nature, inviting viewers to pause, contemplate, and connect with the captivating landscapes I create. My hope is that my current work resonates with its audience, inspiring a renewed appreciation for the ethereal allure of our world and the emotions it stirs within us.
